The Renowned Musician Encourages Public Help to Get Together for Palestine Track to UK Festive Top Spot.
A charity drive is aiming to send a cultural melody to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project aims to provide aid to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Possibility for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be fantastic if that occurred, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it doesn't manage to, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”
Powerful Theme of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's resilient spirit.
“The song holds a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Featured Artists
The track was produced following a major charity concert held in the autumn. Initially planned to be done as a live recording, the piece was omitted from the lengthy event due to time constraints.
The diverse array of musicians featured on Lullaby features a range of acclaimed names from the industry. All took part in the earlier concert, which managed to collect a significant sum for charitable causes.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was produced by a trio of music creators. The single blends a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.
The organizers behind the project have emphasized that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These resources will be distributed to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.
“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a figure said. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”
The reality in the region was noted for its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of buildings reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.
“Given that reality, a handful of millions is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think what does make a difference is first of all making this cause better known and proving the human dimension of the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a digital service from later in the month.
