The former Liverpool manager admits a return to lead Liverpool is conceivable.
Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, remarked that rejoining the club is a possibility. The 58-year-old, after a transformative nine-year spell that included continental glory and the Reds’ first league title for three decades, currently occupies positions as head of global soccer within the Red Bull organization and in an advisory capacity with the German Football League.
Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
Liverpool won the league title last season, though countless followers holding him in high esteem would be thrilled by the possibility that he might come back one day. In a wide-ranging interview, he told Steven Bartlett: “I declared I refuse to lead a different club within the country. Therefore should it be the Reds...yeah. Theoretically it’s possible.”
“I’m 58, that means I might decide later on, it's uncertain. Is a decision required immediately? In that case, I'd stay away. Fortunately, no such pressure exists. I'll simply watch what the future brings.”
Conditions for a Comeback
Questioned regarding the specific conditions must arise to draw him back to the touchline, he confessed he isn't eager toward coming back. “It's unclear to me, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “No longing for management; No desire to be in the rain for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to interviews four times, three times a week or constant media duties weekly.
“No nostalgia for the changing area in that context, however, dining out with the players enjoying conversation, that’s nice. Success was frequent thus frequently a very good mood at the club. Remaining with me is the captain's chuckle in my ear to illustrate.”
Praise for His Successor
He spoke highly for his successor, acknowledging his role due to the changes which secured the championship last term. They've been defeated four consecutive matches across various tournaments post heavy investment, but he rubbished the notion of it representing a slump.
“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if you use the wrong words. An outstanding player. [Hugo] Ekitike, excellent performer. This is a well-built balanced team. Fans shouldn't fret about Liverpool, things will improve.”
Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota
He shared movingly about the death of Jota, a 2020 acquisition in 2020, and its impact on Liverpool. The Portugal international was killed in a vehicle collision alongside his brother recently.
“How do you replace somebody like Diogo? It goes beyond the player himself, his personality mattered. I struggle to conceive the squad missing him. I still cannot speak properly about it. A devastating blow for all the boys too. Nobody at Liverpool might employ it to justify results but it is the situation. You walk in a dressing room where he was omnipresent. Dealing with that on a personal level is challenging. Unbearable.”
