Much like bad weather hit the north-west the previous evening, Manchester City swept United aside at the Etihad Stadium. It was a convincing 3-0 victory for the City coach's side owing to goals from Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a result that truly announced their championship potential as they reinforced their place at the top of the table.

Successive Setbacks for Manchester United

This scoreline signalled consecutive WSL setbacks for the United manager's side for the initial occasion since May 2024, leaving them a sizable gap off the top team with their trophy ambitions severely dented.
