President Trump Welcomes Relatives of Attacked Guard Members to the Presidential Residence

Former President Trump stated on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the family of a Guard member killed last week to visit the White House.

He mentioned that he conversed with her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Background on the Tragic Event

US army specialist Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a violent incident on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in critical condition.

Memorials across West Virginia have been held in their honor.

Presidential Call

The president explained he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the families of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president addressed reporters. “And in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.”

Community Support

Community members came together over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.

Both they had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to aid law enforcement in the capital.

Honoring Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the individual that educators hoped for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that inspired people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s previous school, informed the media. “She was caring, caring and always willing to help others.”

Funeral details for Sarah are in the process of planning.

Judicial Measures and Government Adjustments

Authorities have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of homicide and two counts of violent assault while armed.

The incident led the Trump administration to pause asylum applications and temporarily stop issuing entry permits to owners of Afghan passports.

Condition of the Airman

The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, per the Associated Press.

He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey said on television.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general told a news show that she planned to visit his relatives.

Memory of Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a military police officer with distinction, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had fortitude,” the governor told the audience at the service. “Though her life ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
