Former Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Against 38 Patients
Prosecutors have stated that a former physician has been charged with committing sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were patients.
The Grave Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

Prosecutors outline the 45 charges he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
