Arne Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was expected for doubts to be raised about his future after another convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in 12 games, marking the club's poorest run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received significant support from the top,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to change things and get a victory naturally but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach said:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular exchanges I sense the trust. But I've not talked to them since this game yet so we'll see.”

Familiar Failings and Squad Response

Slot highlighted familiar failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a period such as this with performances like these.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is removed, we'll continue to compete.”

“Our aim is to help the side back to the top, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
